, we can help you discover all that this wondrous destination has to offer, with our list of the best things to do in Bali. But first, let’s take a closer look at the destination itself.
Before you visit Bali, there are a few things to know about the local culture and nature that can make your stay easier and more enjoyable.
Bali, an incredibly popular tourist destination, is an Indonesian province and the western part of the Lesser Sunda Islands. It is the only Hindu-majority province in Indonesia and has a highly developed culture of art. There, music, modern dance, painting, sculpture, and more are incredibly popular and worth taking part in.
Since Bali only sits 8 degrees south of the equator, it has a fairly even climate all year round. The average temperature there stands at around 30°C, with humidity levels settling at around 85%.
When it comes to health and safety, know that there are no mandatory vaccinations for visitors to Bali from Australia. However, it’s still a good idea to make sure you’re up to date on your Hepatitis A, typhoid, and tetanus vaccinations, just in case. Also, rabies remains a pervasive problem in Indonesia and you should consider being protected against it before you travel.
Another important thing to know is that Bali water is not safe to drink, which is why you should stick to bottled water and avoid having ice in your drinks. When travelling, make sure you have your bug spray with you, especially if you’re there during the rainy season.
As of February 2024, there is a fee for foreign visitors that helps locals better combat environmental challenges. This fee comes out to 150,000 Indonesian rupiah per visitor, which is around AU $15. You can pay the tourist tax once you land.

The funds help maintain the Subak irrigation system and contribute to the livelihoods of farmers who care for the land.
