GREECE'S WINTER SURPRISES
While winter in the north of the country can be cold, temperatures rise as you head south. It’s not swimming weather, but the sunshine still offers a wonderful retreat. Greece will then reveal many surprises.
Mount Parnassus is famous for the Delphic Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After discovering this magnificent monument, complete your cultural tour with the majestic amphitheatre and temple of Apollo.
For a warmer climate, head to the northwest of the island of Evia. The village of Loutra Edipsos is home to a hot spring whose virtues have been extolled since ancient times. Visit any of the hydrotherapy centres to relax in next to the Aegean Sea.
Loutra Édipsos: even mythology talks about it!
According to mythology, the baths of Loutra Edipsos were created by Hephaestus at the request of his sister, Athena. She wanted Hercules to have a place to rest after each of his works. But the hero was not the only one to benefit from these healing waters. Emperors Hadrian and Constantine and, more recently, Maria Callas and Greta Gabo, also bathed there.
